ICESA Launches Three New High-Tech Computer Labs

One of KwaZulu-Natal’s premier education institutions ICESA that proudly turned twenty-one this year launched three revamped high-tech computer labs on Friday, 10 November at its Durban campus on Anton Lembede Street.

With the latest in innovative technology, upgraded networking systems, flat screen computers and brand new furniture, the new computer labs are aimed to assist the ICESA student to excel in a fast-paced technology-driven environment.

ICESA, one of ten established private education brands under the Educor Holdings stable, has made it their primary objective to highlight the importance of the student experience with technology and provide sufficient benefits to help students on their academic journey.

The launch hosted by the Educor Chairman, Mr Leo Chetty hosted distinguished guests including Educor’s executives, ICESA Management, and staff. Project Manager, Fiona Anirudh said that she is extremely proud of the project and looks forward to seeing the positive outcome it will have on its students. She said, “The new computer labs will help prepare students for the future of learning with technology. It will help keep them up-to-date with the evolving trends and open a world of opportunities in the technology field.”

The revamped computer lab

Mr Chetty said, “ICESA was the first education brand I acquired which set the foundation for the many other education brands that followed suit. In its twenty-first year, I am really proud of what the brand has achieved thus far and really look forward to what we have planned for its future.”

The projects team, which included IT Educor Network Manager, Mohammed Rawat, Head of Infrastructure, Denzil Marimuthu, and PC Consultant, Terrence Reddy, were all involved in ensuring the computer labs were set up for success.

Some of the new lab features include high-speed LAN and internet access with Wi-Fi around the room at 100mbps. It supports live streaming of the Learning Management System video content, upgraded PC specifications that support Pastel and a full high definition projector for lecturers to use for presentations and visual learning material. 

The lab also boasts complete access control, where each student will receive a unique access card to enter the lab. The facility will also have CCTV camera for monitoring of the rooms.

Penny, a marketing student at ICESA stood proudly alongside one of the computer cubicles and smiled with delight at the reveal of the new labs. She said, “The computer lab is a really important resource centre for us and we are very excited for the new makeover. It is vibrant and makes us want to stay in and complete our assignments.”

Another first-year student continued to thank ICESA for the new labs. He said, “Thank you ICESA, thank you. We love every detail. Now students would not mind sitting for three to four hours completing their projects. The computers will be fast and the chairs are so comfortable. We feel as if we are in our future workplace. Thank you again ICESA.” 

General Manager for ICESA Neil Harilal said that the computer labs will enhance the student’s experience at ICESA. “We are extremely happy with the result of the computer labs. These new labs will prepare the student to use technology and provide them with the necessary skills for them to use in the workplace. Most importantly, the revamp was really well received by the students who expressed their excitement and anticipation to commence working with it.”
